State Championship - 5th Place Michael Sandlin

This is the first in a series of articles profiling the top five finishers at the 2015 Arkansas Kayak Fishing State Championship. First up is 5th place finisher Michael Sandlin. Michael competes on the NWA Razoryak Tournament Trail during the regular season, this was his first year in competitive bass fishing so to jump into the top five of this elite event was a great way to finish off his year. Read below to see how he did it...

5th Place Michael Sandlin
First off I would like to thank Jeff, Brandon, and all the sponsors that made this happen.

This was my first year ever of bass fishing so to say the least it has been a great year. While Pre-fishing on Saturday I was using a 7 inch worm on a Texas rig and caught some good fish. My game plan was to do it when I started Sunday. Well wrapping up Saturday night I was watching an angler fish off the bank drop shotting. I had never done this before and I was intrigued after watching him catch one fish after another. So I went to the hotel room and watched a couple videos on the technique, went to Wal-Mart and got the supplies I needed, and ended up catching all my fish on tournament day with it!

On tournament day I fell in with all my clothes on and I also got high centered on my first log. Another angler stepped in to help me out lol, so there were a lot first in this tournament and I would not change one part of it.
