State Championship - 2nd Place Eli Powers

State Championship weekend was the first chance I had to meet Eli Powers. I could tell right away this guy was a serious contender and he did not disappoint! He made his way to the State Championship through winning an event on the newly formed Twin Lakes Kayak Anglers tournament circuit. Congrats on your 2nd place finish Eli, and thanks for sharing some insight on how you did it.

The first annual RTT state championship was one to remember for me. Fishing was brutally tough, but I managed to scratch out a limit on Sunday. From my results on Saturday, I knew I had to hunker down and fish slowly and precise to get enough bites to catch a limit, so that's what I did first thing Sunday morning. I paddled straight to my shallow brush piles and camped on them with my anchor pole, and picked them apart inch by inch. I was using a spinning outfit with 10lb power pro braid, throwing a Underbite Custom Tackle 1/16 shakey head with a green pumpkin Zoom speed worm with the tail dyed chartreuse. After catching a limit by lunch, I swung for the fences to try and score a big fish, but it never came to fruition. Again, what a great experience, and I look forward to sharing the water with everyone again.
