|2015 Razoryak Tournament Trail|
Competitive kayak fishing is gaining momentum across the country. Just last week the Kayak Bass Series kicked off in Florida and drew anglers from all over the region with a $13,000 prize pool, this spring the KBF open on Kentucky Lake is offering up well over $20,000 in cash and prizes for anglers to chase. And this fall the Tournament of Champions, on legendary Lake Fork in Texas, already has over 100 invitations out there to the top kayak anglers in the country. These large events are awesome, but they do require travel and some hefty entry fees. Luckily for Arkansasans, the 2015 Razoryak Tournament Trail (RTT) will offer events across the state giving anglers a low cost/local option to test their skills on some of the best bass fishing water in the country.
This season, with the combined efforts of the Arkansas Kayak Anglers, the Kayak Bass Anglers of Central Arkansas, and the Western Arkansas Kayak Anglers, The Razoryak Tournament Trail will feature tournaments all over the state with a culminating state championship in the fall.
Entry fees for RTT are only $20 with an optional $5 big bass side pot. All entry fees are paid back 100% at each event, and thanks to great sponsor support, there are always prizes given away just for entering. The Northwest Arkansas and Central Arkansas series will also feature an Angler of the Year points race with a prize package given to the winning angler. By fishing the RTT anglers also have a chance to qualify for several national events including the KBF and TOC mentioned in the opening paragraph.
All three of the fishing clubs that are part of the RTT are full of great people and are working towards the common goal of giving kayak anglers a place to compete and have a blast at the same time. Anglers of all ages and skill levels are welcomed at events, even if you don't have a kayak yet come hang out at a tournament to see how much fun it can be (there is always someone with a boat to lend out).
