South East Arkansas Kayak Launch Points

Most of the lakes in South Eastern Arkansas are small protected lakes great for kayak fishing. They are packed with trees and other cover that provide great hiding places for fish and anglers when the wind is whipping across the water.

  1. Lake MonticelloLocated off Ark. 35 about five miles northwest of Monticello, Lake Monticello is a 1,520-acre impoundment that opened for fishing in 1997. It is owned by the city of Monticello and its fishery is overseen by the AGFC, the lake is managed to produce trophy largemouth bass. 
  2. Lake WallaceLake Wallace Dam is a dam located just 5.4 miles from Dermott, in Drew County, near Hudspeth Arkansas. 
  3. Lake ChicotLocated in the flat Delta lands of southeastern Arkansas, Lake Chicot is a true natural wonder. A 20-mile-long, former main channel of the Mississippi River, it is the biggest oxbow lake in North America and Arkansas's largest natural lake.
  4. Shallow Lake Access and Felsenthal Public Access A lot of largemouth bass come out of these Ouachita River bottoms all year long. If you know how to work soft plastics, spinner baits and crankbaits, you’re ready for Felsenthal.
